Fraser Island was fantastic

Andrew and I have just returned from our holiday to fraser island. We had a wonderful and relaxing time and if you are ever thinking of going I highly recommend it. I’ve just finished sorting out the 1.1gig of photos. I have many that are beautiful photos but don’t have time to post them all so here is a few.

Boarding the boat Andrew and I about to board the boat to fraser

We stayed at Kingfisher bay resort. It is built into the forest and is just beautiful. Here are some pictures from around the resort…

We went out whale watching on Saturday morning. We were very lucky and were ‘mugged’ by two different pods. A mugging is where the whales approach the boat and swim around and look at all the strange human beings.

On Sunday we decided to walk out to lake McKenzie. Depending on which sign you read along the way or whos instructions it is between a 10-15km walk.

we walked and walked and walked….

It was a very long walk as fraser island made a lot harder by the fact that the island is all sand. The sand hills are the things that destroy your leg power!

But it was well worth the trip and we would do it again!
First sighting of the lake was a relief…

Then amazement…

Apon arrival we realised that we then had to walk back. Luckily we found a tour operator and hitched a ride back to the resort. He also had some extra food from lunch that he needed cleaned up we had a welcomed salad sandwich in the eating area. We also saw our first and suprisingly only dingo.
